Humidity resistance varies between species. European White Beech, White Oak, Kiaat, and Rhodesian Teak are the most consistently chosen for bathroom applications. These species are denser, respond less dramatically to humidity changes, and hold a finish longer under daily water exposure.
Pine and open-grained species like Ash are less suited to bathroom environments — the open grain absorbs moisture more readily and can degrade around sink edges faster. The finish specification matters as much as the species: a fully sealed gloss or satin varnish protects the surface substantially more than an oil finish in a wet environment.
Basin and tap hole cutouts
Undermount, drop-in, and vessel basin cutouts are all available. Tap holes are drilled in the workshop to your specified diameter and position. All cut edges are sealed and finished before despatch. More on cutout options →
