Dining table tops are typically made in face grain or edge grain construction. Face grain produces the most expressive result — wide planks with visible grain character. Edge grain is chosen for larger tops where dimensional stability matters more, or where a linear, contemporary grain pattern suits the space better.
Standard dining table dimensions range from 1600mm to 2400mm in length and 800mm to 1000mm in width. Larger tops are achievable but require discussion — very long, wide face grain tops can present movement challenges in different seasons.
Table base compatibility
We supply the top; the base is separate. Our steel table bases are available in a range of styles and are designed to work with our tops. We can also drill and prepare the top for a third-party base. See steel table bases →
Outdoor dining tops
Outdoor dining tops require a species with natural durability — Iroko and Kiaat are the correct choices for outdoor applications. A fully sealed marine-grade finish is recommended. The surface will still require periodic maintenance in an outdoor environment.
