View island builds →How cutouts are specified
We work from your dimensions. For sinks: the cutout opening dimensions, the distance from the front edge, and the position along the run. For hobs: the cutout dimensions as specified by the manufacturer. For tap holes: diameter and position. A dimensioned sketch is the easiest way to communicate all of this clearly — we provide a template if needed.
Available cutout types
- Undermount sink cutouts — clean edge, sealed and finished
- Drop-in sink cutouts — with lip support
- Hob cutouts — to manufacturer specifications
- Tap holes — 35mm to 60mm diameter
- Drainage grooves and channels
- Power outlet and socket cutouts for island tops
- Built-in pot stand recesses
Why workshop cutting matters
Cutting through a finished, pre-varnished wooden countertop on site is technically demanding. The risk of tearout, chipping, or an imprecise edge is significant. All cutouts completed in the workshop are routed cleanly with jigs, profiled at the edge, and sealed before the finish is applied — the result is consistent and reliable in a way that site work cannot match.
