View island builds →Edge profiles
Applied to every exposed edge in the workshop before finishing. The profile is included in the price of every surface — specified at the time of order.
Square
Clean 90° edge with a 1mm ease on the arris. The most contemporary profile — sharp, architectural, and uninterrupted. Works best with edge grain and end grain construction where the material has inherent density.
Eased
Square with a slightly softened arris — the corner is removed but the edge reads as flat. Standard on most orders where a specific profile is not requested. Comfortable to touch, clean to look at.
Bullnose
Fully rounded edge — a semicircle on the face of the material. Traditional and tactile. Softens the edge significantly and suits natural, organic kitchen styles. More pronounced on thicker surfaces.
Chamfer
An angled flat cut on the arris — 45° is standard. Crisp and architectural without being sharp. A clean alternative to eased that adds a geometric detail to the edge.
Pencil Round
A small, consistent radius applied to the arris. Subtle and refined — sits between eased and bullnose. Comfortable under the hand and visually unobtrusive. Very commonly specified on stair treads and floating shelves.
Ogee
An S-curve profile — a concave section followed by a convex one. The most decorative of the standard profiles. Traditional kitchens and period bathrooms. Works best at greater thicknesses (44mm+) where there is enough material for the profile to read clearly.
The profile is specified at the time of order. All exposed edges receive the same profile. If a return butts against a wall or cabinet where the profile won't be visible, we can discuss which edges to profile and which to leave square.
Specify your edge profile
Edge profiles are selected when you place your order. If you're not sure which profile suits your space, describe the kitchen style and we'll recommend one.
